Has anyone ever sold their home FSBO (For Sale By Owner) when they live elsewhere?

JGEO asked:

I have a condo in Atlanta that I’m desperate to sell. I had to take a job a couple of years ago in a different city, and I’m currently renting it out, but the rental income is less than the amount I pay monthly, so it’s not working as an investment. Because of the value of the property, I stand to lose money in the sale, so for that reason, would I be better off selling it FSBO instead of an agent, even though I now live out of state? Walking away, breaking even, would be wonderful!

Let's Not Neglect the National Mall

Posted by admin | FSBO - Do it Yourself | Friday 29 May 2009 8:56 am

With attention focused on the opening of the immense, $621 million Capitol Visitor Center on the east side of the U.S. Capitol Building, let’s not forget the National Mall to the west. Shouldn’t we also be investing to enhance America’s most nationally significant public space?

As McMansions Begin to Die Off, Look to the Past for Housing's Future

The end of the housing bubble may also signal the end of the McMansion, that much-maligned symbol of suburban American excess.

FSBO Need help on a commission question?

mominwi asked:

I will try and keep this short. We have a house under contract and have been dealing with a bank on a short sale. Within an hour of putting our sign out, we got a call from a couple wanting to see the house. They wanted to put in an offer right away, the wifes sister lives accross the street, we told them that we had to finalize the purchase price with the bank first. They called every week wanting to know if they could put in an offer yet. We had showed them the house a couple of times and talked with regularly during the process. The house is in disrepair and we discounted the house for them 32K. On our second meeting to finalize the contract a realtor shows up and states that she has been working with these people for 5 months. She does not have a contract with us nor does she have a buyers contract. She is insisting on a 3% commission. I have told her that I will not pay her a commission and now she is telling me she will be talking to her lawyer. If we have to pay her no deal.
Ok just talked with the company that listed the house on the MLS. He said he put in a 3% commission, he stated that he has to put on commision in to be on the MLS. Again if the realtor never contacted us about the buyer and the buyer never said anything about the realtor and she shows up at the 12th hour she never showed the house. Side note she did say that she wanted the buyers to buy the house she has for sale, but has told me we culd work out something and I could buy her house. The house is being sold as is and she submitted a contract just now with all kinds of repairs added in and additional closing costs. I don’t trust her and the buyers don’t want her involved either because she will cause them to lose this house. I don’t trust her and don’t want to deal with her, what do I do to make her go away. When someone tells me I am not trying to scr*** you, I find most times they are. Shoudl I call her boss. Again there isn’t a contract between anybody.
We contacted a firm that for $99.00 will list your FSBO house on the MLS. Not sure why they have not told her to take a hike. Except that maybe they don’t speak English well and they are afraid of her. They have asked us to finish them with a contract of our own.
